Quite the Settlement for Former Penn State Students

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Penn State implemented a variety of restrictions. It must have been quite challenging for students and parents to continue paying tuition and fees even though the university transitioned to online classes and closed its campuses. It's completely understandable that students and parents are seeking a refund through a lawsuit, as they expected to receive in-person, on-campus education for the fees they paid.

Penn State still thinks it did what was best, explaining, “The University did its best to respond to unexpected and extraordinary emerging circumstances and denies the allegations contained in plaintiffs’ complaint and any allegations of wrongdoing,”

The individuals involved are aware that reaching a settlement would be in their best interest. If the suggested sum is approved, approximately 72,000 present and past students will receive a portion of $17 million.
