In a creative twist on customer service, Hawkins BBQ, a popular food truck on the Isle of Man, has introduced an innovative insurance policy aimed at safeguarding its patrons from the island's notorious seagulls. Known for its mouthwatering sandwiches, loaded fries, and ice cream, the food truck has recently faced challenges with the local avian population.

The food truck took to Facebook to explain the rationale behind its new seagull insurance initiative. "I think it’s fair to say that many on the island have had one or two (traumatic) experiences with the islands' enthusiastic seagulls," the post stated. It further elaborated, "Whether it’s being swooped on walking down Strand Street or attacked eating ice cream/gelato, we might have something for you."

For just one pound (approximately $1.30), customers can purchase seagull insurance with their meal, ensuring a complimentary replacement if a bird snatches their food. The proceeds from this quirky policy will be donated to the Manx Wildlife Trust, a local conservation charity.

Chef and co-owner Matt Hawkins shared insights with Fox News Digital, noting the unique challenges posed by the protected seagull population in the United Kingdom. "We saw the idea across in Scotland and introducing the ‘insurance’ to our customers on the Isle of Man was a no-brainer," he remarked. He added, "This is a cute idea and a lovely way to support the Wildlife Trust."

Hawkins emphasized the importance of customer satisfaction, stating, "We wanted to give patrons peace of mind when enjoying our meals." He also expressed his delight at the community's response, saying, "The public’s reaction has been fantastic thus far."
