Patriotism Under Fire: CA County Tries to Silence Business Owner Over Giant American Flag Display

Camping World Doesn’t Back Down After Being Told to Take Flag Down

In another egregious example of bureaucratic overreach, a Northern California county is attempting to stifle patriotism by ordering a prominent business owner to take down his massive American flag display. The controversy surrounds Camping World RV Sales in San Joaquin County, one of the company's 250 nationwide locations flying high-flying Old Glory above their premises.

However, last month, the county abruptly put the kibosh on this symbol of national pride, claiming concerns over public safety due to alleged proximity to nearby properties and highways. According to officials, the towering flagpole lacked necessary permits – despite having stood tall without incident until now.

San Joaquin County defended its actions stating, “Camping World’s flagpole was installed with neither a building permit nor planning approval, therefore they are in conversation with the code enforcement division.”

Undeterred, Camping World CEO Marcus Lemonis refused to back down from showcasing America's colors. In fact, after initially complying with removal orders, he defiantly reinstated the Stars-and-Stripes earlier this week.

When questioned regarding potential risks associated with maintaining such a large installation so close to neighboring landowners and thoroughfares, Lemonis countered, "If we felt like we were putting people in danger or causing any issues with air traffic, which would absolutely not be OK, then I wouldn't do it."
